aoyama flower market tea house

After about a 6+ year internet acquaintance, I had to chance to meet up with the lovely Miss Anna of Fenua Beauté yesterday. Flowers, makeup and the non-painful realization that we are, in fact, transitional hipsters.

Aoyama Flower Market Tea House is a gorgeous little cafe hidden in the back of a flower shop. It's closest to Exit A5 of Omotesando Station and despite the fact that we inititally walked right past it, super easy to find.

Rose soda, bacon-something-or-other on foccacia bread my brain mostly just said HELLYES foccacia bread and rose parfait. I'm normally not big on drinks or sweets with a floral flavor or aroma but all of the above were surprising easy to eat/drink! If nothing else, I highly recommend the rose parfait. It's deceptively filling for it's size too which is always a plus. :3

Exposed brick,  the sound of trickling water from various fountains, and plants literally everywhere. I honestly have no idea what the upkeep for this place must be like but it's got to be worth it for such lovely atmosphere.

The flower shop out front was equally as beautiful! If I had any discernible talent tending plants I would have considered getting one but seeing as how I can't even keep a cactus alive, I chose to only temporary admire. Regretting not getting anything just a tiny bit now, though.

After lunch Anna and I walked to Shibuya where I made some very mature purchasing decisions.

If my 17 year old self could see the music I listen to now, I'm pretty sure she'd just roll over and replay Marmalade Chainsaw one more time. Honestly, I never wanted to like Lana Del Rey but I cannot stop listening to ♫ Dark Paradise.

After Tower Records we did a bit of shopping Parco before heading to purikura. According to Anna, we found the perfect machine for whities.

All of the cafe shots are actually from my Canon! I bought it when I was back in the states, mostly because I wanted to practice shooting shows, but also because I wanted to start documenting my life here with something other than an iPhone. The problem is I find carrying it around to cumbersome and to be perfectly honest, I'm somewhat lazy.

However! Having Anna long gave me a good excuse to shoot with my "real camera" as well and she has such lovely photos on her blog it kind of inspired me to stop being so lazy myself. Let's see if I can improve over the next couple of months!

oki-fucking-nawa part III

Two posts in less than a week? Who is this person, really. Anyway, Okinawa Day 3! We had intended on taking a ferry to Zamami but didn't realize how expensive it was so ended up changing our plans the night before. However! Thanks to Lisa's trip planning we made it work. :)

Early morning in Naha before the stores were open.

What up, Jamiroquai.

After that we decided to take the bus tour around Naha. I actually took some photos of one of the historic sites with my Canon--because I'm currently so dismally noob and needed practice--but I'll have to get them up later. For now the shoddy stylings masterpieces from my iPhone.

Tsukemeeeen.

After that we headed back into town for, well.

If you're thinking I eat way too many sweets, you're probably right. :D

After that we headed towards Kokusai Street again to see ROACH and SiM. Incorrectly assuming that, after all this is Okinawa and the show must be running on Okinawa time, we got to Central just a tiiiny bit late. Though we came in about halfway through ROACH's second song I'm still really glad we finally got to see them in their hometown. :3

First time seeing SiM, though! Always wanted to but hadn't managed to make it to a show of theirs yet. Certainly didn't disappoint. And they played Jack. B! ♡

Afterwards out for drinks to celebrate Mittan's last night in Okinawa, love her! ♡ She plays bass for The Heroes Syndicate so check them out!

Apparently I now drink invisible Cassis. :D

One more day to get up here! Have actually been super productive lately and will have a new band comment video up on trick/rock. on Wednesday! Let's see if I can get the last Okinawa post up by next weekend. :3

mosh it loud 2013 & zushi

So I still have two Okinawa posts to get up but I thought I'd write about this. Before it gets too late. Again. I'm also currently watching Gangs of New York for the first time and am thoroughly distracted by Leo in period clothing but hey.

About two weeks ago, I went to Mosh it Loud 2013, the third installment of a multi-band event hosted by Fear from the Hate, at CYCLONE in Shibuya. I've known them for almost 3 years and I'm proud to say I've now been on three of their releases! Birthday of 12 Questions, 1961 and most recently Alice. Not as a singer or anything but I still got to lend my native English and have a good time. :)

We did a mini video comment and longer video interview that will be up on trick/rock. soon. And by that I mean as soon as I get some free time. Which will hopefully be soon. I hope.

Anyway, other bands wereeee...

FFTH made custom staff passes this time!

Anyway it was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot of friends that I wasn't expecting which was nice. Passed on the afterparty since I had to get up early to go to the beach with friends the next day. First time back at the beach since Okinawa! And off to Zushi we went.

Corona is really so basic but ahh, with a lime? Damn straight mas fina.

Bit of a cloudy day but still hot as all.

I really like this shot for some reason!

Oh! Also because having 3 tumblrs--yes three--ends up ruining my life in more and more interesting and surprising ways every day, ever since I saw this picture on tumblr I was bound and determined to find a Supreme hat. MISSION COMPLETE.

Still kinda want the white version of this, too but we'll see. XDD

Been run completely ragged by work for the past two weeks so I'm really hoping to get back into the gym, video editing, and blogging again over the next couple of weeks!
