it's gonna be may

Or well, it is. And it's Monday which means means a new episode of Game of Thrones. But for right now it means writing a blog--about two and half months late--until Jess and I head off to see Captain America. #'murica

What have I been up to in my 2-month period of truancy? Everything. Started a new job, been to lots of shows, edited lots of videos, eaten lots of food, and tried repeatedly to take up clean eating with only moderate and sporadic success.

I'll try to catch up on everything eventually, but for now that Justin Timberlake meme floating got me thinking maybe I should just start with Golden Week.

April 30th was such a beautiful day! The weather's gotten so nice and I haven't been running in forever so I decided to re-visit an old route of mine.

Ended up running past Chinzanso Hotel and all the way to Edogawa park! It was only about 70°F, but felt much hotter by the time I got there. Shame I don't have the balls to run at night anymore. :(

May 2nd, I ended up working all day. And by that I mean 12 hours. Technically I'm only part time, but I really wanted the extra money. Just look at that rigorous and disciplined clean eating.

Since I've been feeling stressed about all the things I need to get done lately, I decided to take Saturday to run some outside errands. I wrote about getting two pairs of Vans for Christmas and I'm not lying when I say I wear them almost everywhere. It was love at first sight for the teal ones up there and on my way to the register I tried on the peach-pink slip-ons. They were too comfy to pass up! Stopped at American Eagle as well and found not only the perfect high-waisted light-wash denim shorts but also those tops up there.

Yesterday I went to meet a friend for lunch who I haven't seen in forever and then met up with friends for Mexican and coffee later that night. My new work schedule is super flexible so even though I technically missed out on the traditional golden week schedule, it was still a pretty nice weekend.

Also completely random, but I've been super into Spotify! #latetotheparty I know! I never really thought I needed a "radio station" type thing because I liked my own music so much, but lately I feel like I've overplayed almost everything.

I'm not too keen on the current season of Supernatural (that writing I mean, honestly) but ironically I've been super into Supernatural playlists on Spotify. See what I did thurr.

Vans, American Eagle, and Dean Winchester-approved classic rock. If I didn't know any better, I'd say I'm starting to sound like a proper American.

I'll see if I can catch up! I always say this with somewhat groundless optimism, but I realllly want to make some show posts! I've been to a lot and I have a lot of music I want to throw at you guys as well as some recent trips.

Until next time!

me & crowley

Aptly named for that ace purikura you see up there and the fact that I have serious soft spot for the King of Hell. And Mark Sheppard.

Anyway, my natural inclination--or maybe obligation--is to not post until I have something big or cohesive but to be honest? I really miss the ease of posting on good ol' eljay and being able to write whatever I wanted as it happened. I'm not always going to have nice Canon shots and the truth of it is, most of the time you'll probably get stuck with iPhone photos :D

Stick with me though? I kinda want to make this more of "daily" blog because, if and when I ever decide to move again, I want to remember the places I went and the things I did while I was here. Even the little things.

SO.

Happy New Year from...Ikebukuro?

Lighted mirror courtesy of my lovely roomie! ♡

Also celebrated Lisa's birthday!
It's already been a week and a few days since I've been back and I honestly have no idea where it went. You'd think my current state of unemployment would come in tandem with boredom but I've actually been super busy. Aside from actual boring things like getting health insurance and final arrangements with my old company, I got an awesome present from my roomie and celebrated Lisa's birthday in Shimokitazawa. Unfortunately due to jetlag and being an alcohol weenie in general, I was drunk after two beers. Yes drunk, and yes you read that right. Two. Let's not talk about how I was drunk off one 22 oz beer Christmas Eve dinner while my brewski-seasoned brother looked on in shame.

So.

me & crowley

Though it's in my profile, I'll say it again. I really love Supernatural. Like a lot. Maybe too much. The first time I saw it towards the end of high school, it scared the shit out of me and I gave up. When I tried watching it again 4 seasons later, Satan possessed someone. NOPE.

Needless to say, too much tumblr and one SPN marathon after another and I was hooked. My friend Sarah, who is now lovingly called Sarahstiel, organized a Mexican lunch and general lulzy SPN day.

In retrospect this kind of looks like Dean Winchester cosplay D:

El Torito! Closest thing to decent Mexican I've found so far here.

Dem faces, tho.

Because honestly why wouldn't you dedicate purikura to Crowley? He's 1/3 of the reason I kept watching the show post-Season 5 anyway.

Don't know if I'm flattered or ashamed that I'm in that S☆Bux enough that they English-up my cups now XD

Nan-party with my old coworkers

Finally! Went with the 64GB silver 5S

Each of the cherry blossoms is an individual card!

I had to go into my old office to take of some final arrangements. Felt so weird being back somewhere that I used to work but not...working. Still felt like I had to take a seat at my desk or something. The overwhelmingly positive reception I got when I came in though, really made me want to cry. I will honestly and truly miss my old coworkers so much. So happy I got to work with such lovely people.

I have no idea how it's already 3:30pm and my feet are so cold I'm actually considering putting on another pair of socks.

Live show post coming tomorrow! Hopefully.

In the meantime I have a ton of band comments to edit and I'm going to try desperately to not sit and read these two until later.

oki-fucking-nawa part IV

Last day in Okinawa! Last tacos, delicious coffee and the "best fuckin' ice cream followed by our last day at the beach.

So let's just overlook the fact that we went to Okinawa at the end of June and I'm just now getting this post up. Never said I was really on the ball there with punctuality, though so hey. Plus I have a lot of other stuff going on right now which I'll expound upon later. For now!

My other favorite day of the whole trip! To be perfectly honest 4 days is not nearly enough time but this day and day 2 were my absolute favorites.

I'm so sure.

Our first order of the day was tacos for breakfast. Literally.

Followed by a really cute cafe! Should've probably done this the other way around but, well. Coffee is coffee and, I mean. Tacos, man. TACOS. Priorities.

taama taxi
After that, our friend Taama came to pick us up so we could get our bags from the hotel before setting out for the day. Despite almost dying (but not really) on Saturday night--and all for the sake of root beer--some of the best & lulziest times were had in this car that day XD

Claimed to be the "best fuckin' ice cream" in all of Okinawa by our lulzy tour guide and he wasn't lying. Apparently I just can't eat it without it melting everywhere. I was thoroughly bullied for this.

After that we thought we'd try our luck at getting to the beach one last time before we had to leave. Cue about 30 minutes of aimless driving, some Fallout Boy and christening him the "Okinawa Asshole", we finally rounded a corner that looked promising.

The shadow really sells it.

The beach here is really just so, so beautiful and the water is so clear and so blue. We hung out at the beach for a while before making our way back to the clubhouse like area.

Where apparently Taama made a friend...

And apparently Lisa and I made two. Dat guy.

On our way back into Naha we picked up our now mutual friend Erykah from getting her tattoo done and started making our way to the airport.

USA USA.

So though we honestly spent most of the day driving around southern Okinawa, it was seriously the perfect way to end this vacation. Finally being able to take this vacation with Ri like we'd always planned, finally getting to hang out with Daisuke and Taama in their hometown, and meeting the amazing and lovely Erykah, I seriously couldn't have asked for a better "first time" for Okinawa.

We'll definitely be back next year :3

oki-fucking-nawa part III

Two posts in less than a week? Who is this person, really. Anyway, Okinawa Day 3! We had intended on taking a ferry to Zamami but didn't realize how expensive it was so ended up changing our plans the night before. However! Thanks to Lisa's trip planning we made it work. :)

Early morning in Naha before the stores were open.

What up, Jamiroquai.

After that we decided to take the bus tour around Naha. I actually took some photos of one of the historic sites with my Canon--because I'm currently so dismally noob and needed practice--but I'll have to get them up later. For now the shoddy stylings masterpieces from my iPhone.

Tsukemeeeen.

After that we headed back into town for, well.

If you're thinking I eat way too many sweets, you're probably right. :D

After that we headed towards Kokusai Street again to see ROACH and SiM. Incorrectly assuming that, after all this is Okinawa and the show must be running on Okinawa time, we got to Central just a tiiiny bit late. Though we came in about halfway through ROACH's second song I'm still really glad we finally got to see them in their hometown. :3

First time seeing SiM, though! Always wanted to but hadn't managed to make it to a show of theirs yet. Certainly didn't disappoint. And they played Jack. B! ♡

Afterwards out for drinks to celebrate Mittan's last night in Okinawa, love her! ♡ She plays bass for The Heroes Syndicate so check them out!

Apparently I now drink invisible Cassis. :D

One more day to get up here! Have actually been super productive lately and will have a new band comment video up on trick/rock. on Wednesday! Let's see if I can get the last Okinawa post up by next weekend. :3
